RAIL NEER – PURIFIED PACKAGED DRINKING WATER
Rail Neer – Packaged Drinking Water is purified and bottled at State of Art Plants located at Nangloi (Delhi) and Danapur ( Bihar). Rail Neer is using processes that guarantee safe drinking water that is crystal clear, low in dissolved solids and free from all pathogenic bacteria and viruses as well as other harmful contaminants like fluoride, arsenic, nitrate or iron and conforming to the exacting Bureau of Indian Standards specifications.
RAIL NEER –PURIFICATION PROCESS:
Water drawn from borewells is stored in an underground reservoir and pumped to the treatment plant designed, engineered and installed by M/s ION Exchange ( India) Ltd., the market leaders in the field of water treatment with well over 37 years of experience.
Pretreatment of water
The objective in pretreating borewell water is to eliminate all those contaminants that are likely to affect the performance of the downstream Reverse Osmosis (RO) unit used for removal of dissolved salts from water.
Disinfection of water is the first step and is carried out by Mixed Oxidants – hypochlorite, chorine dioxide and other potent oxidants produced insitu by electrochlorination of salt solution. The powerful oxidants produced by the process ensure complete kill of all bacteria and oxidation of organic matter present in water.
Treatment through granular Activated Carbon removes residual chlorine, objectionable taste and odour. Hardness forming salts are removed by passing water through a softener filled with food grade resin producing soft water.
Soft water is filtered through Ultrafiltration (UF) membranes in hollow fibre configuration and designed to remove all undissolved impurities like suspended solids, colloidal particles that cause haziness in water as well as dissolved organic matter. This process produces clear water, free from bacteria and viruses. Permeate from the UF membrane is stored in a break pressure tank of FRP construction of capacity 20,000 litres.
Removal of dissolved salts by Reverse Osmosis Water treated through the UF skid is pumped by means of a high pressure pump to a RO units for removal of dissolved mineral salts present in water. The process employs the state of art polyamide membrane and produces potable water free from dissolved solids present in the feed. The process also removes all the residual contaminants present in water including bacteria and viruses.
Permeate from the RO skid is then treated through a calcite marble media for correcting the pH and introducing calcium and alkalinity to impart the desired taste in water. Treated water from the unit is stored in a stainless steel storage tank of capacity 10,000 litres.
RO treated water is passed through 1 micron and 0.2 micron cartridge filters in series to give crystal clear water.
Water filtered through micron cartridge filter is exposed to UV rays to kill any residual bacteria and viruses present in water. Ultraviolet energy causes permanent inactivation of micro organism by disrupting DNA (reproductive material) so that it is no longer able to maintain metabolism or reproduce itself.
Ozonation of water forms the last stage of purification – a process that ensures 100% disinfection of the bottles and its contents before it reaches the bottle filling machine.
Special care has been taken in choosing the right material of construction for storage, conveyance and treatment of water at all stages. The entire piping from feed pump to the bottling plant is of stainless steel grade 316.
The treatment plant is complete with a blow moulding machine, filling machine, air compressors, DG set for generation of electricity, labeling. Packaging machinery and a full fledged laboratory with facilities for mineral and bacteriological analysis of bottled water as per IS - 14543 : 2004 for packaged drinking water. |
